Shirley Brown Obituary

Shirley Valeria Chinn Brown, affectionately known as Sheri, was born on September 3, 1956 to Shirley Anne Price and Robert Eugene Chinn Sr. She received her promotion to Glory on May 26, 2023.

She was born in Louisville KY while her parents were visiting her beloved grandmother Dee Dee. She loved telling stories about her time with Dee Dee in the country.

Sheri attended Princeton City Schools. She was a very hard worker. In most of her positions she was moved into management. She was employed as a sales associate at Dillard’s but her love for cooking kept her in somebody’s kitchen.

Sheri loved her family. Every opportunity she could take to cook and be around her family, she did. Everyone congregated at her house for Sunday dinner, holidays, and just because. She never met a stranger, everyone that she came in contact with, she greeted with a warm smile.

Sheri cherished the time with her grandparents Erma and Willie Price, spending as much time with them as she could. She would go to church with them on Sunday’s. Her love for the Lord led her to be baptized at an early age and she constantly prayed, learning from her grandparents the power of what God can do.

Sheri was preceded in death by her father Robert Eugene Chinn Sr., her mother-in-law whom she adored, Kathryn B. Dowdell and her brother Gary Lee Goins Sr.

Sheri’s family was her everything, she did not see blood, she saw love. She shared a blended family with Gerald Brown for many years. She leaves to treasure her memories, her children: Anthony Chinn Sr., Clifford Mathews Jr., Marlon Mathews, Leland Mathews Sr., Jason Mathews Sr. (LaToya), Brandon Mathews (Shaquila). W. Todd Bennett, Todd McCoy (Kim), Timothy Brown (Mary), Tianna Brown (Christin), Elisa Pascascio (Charles) and Keith Brown. Her dear mother Shirley A. Chinn, her siblings, Robert E. Chinn Jr., Anthony T. Goines Sr. (Yvette), Donna Chinn (Ernest), Michael Chinn, Charlotte Chinn and Beverly Jewett. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren whom she loved very deeply, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
